01/13/2018 Changes Coming for Children! On Sunday there will be a schedule change for the children's missions and choirs that meet in the evening: 5:00 p.m. - Children's choirs [Cherub Choir [age 3-Kindergarten; His Instruments of Praise [grades 1-5] 6:00 p.m. - Family Supper 6:30 p.m. - Children's missions [Mission Friends; Children in Action] *This change was made to accommodate parents whose preschoolers could not attend Cherub Choir due to the lateness of the original time. We will see how this works through May and re-evaluate this Summer.
01/13/2018 Youth Missions Training Training for the two youth summer mission trips will begin on Sunday, January 21 and continue through March 18. It will consist of David Platt's "Follow Me" material. Sr. High trip is to Trenton, NJ July 13-21; Middle School MC2 trip is to Lynchburg, VA July 22-27.
01/10/2018 OIU January Collection This month we are collecting large black trash bags for the Fauquier Family Shelter. Please place the bags in the "Donation Box" located in the downstairs hallway near the grocery cart. Thank you for helping with this ministry.
12/20/2017 Beth Moore Event in Boone, NC Women’s Event! Experience the powerful biblical teaching of Beth Moor at a Living Proof Live event in Boone, NC on March 9 and 10, 2018. • Invest in a weekend that will encourage, challenge, and change you. • Worship with Dove Award-winning worship leader Travis Cottrell. • Laugh, pray, and study scripture with thousands of women from all walks of life. • Leave with a renewed sense of calling, purpose, and love for Christ. We will leave in the church van early on Friday, March 9 and return in the evening on Saturday, March 10. Cost is $110 (covers event + lodging). 12/01/2017 Operation Inasmuch: Weekend Backpacks The Weekend Backpacks is one of our OIU Life projects. Angie Ashley works at Grace Miller Elementary School and over 1/3 of their students qualify for free/reduced lunch. The school food pack program sends food home on Fridays so that students and their family have at least 3 meals over the weekend. Right now GMES is sending home about 35 backpacks each weekend. If you can contribute any of the following items during the month of December, it would greatly help. Applesauce pouches, Chef Boyardee Microwave meals or cans, small peanut butter [plastic only], small jelly [plastic only], small flour tortillas, Rice Krispie treats [individually wrapped]. A collection box/basket will be located in each Sunday School room and in the Fellowship Hall.
11/27/2017 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering It's that time again! During the month of December we are privileged to donate to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering that supports our international missionaries. Two of our own are supported by this offering: Ken and Kristen Thompson who minister in Asia. Our goal this year is $40,000. Please be in prayer regarding how you can help this missions effort.
11/27/2017 Domestic Violence Survivors As part of our support of these families/individuals, this year we have acquired four families who need help with Christmas gifts. If you would like to help with this project, that information will be available next Sunday. We also will be collecting personal hygiene and cleaning supplies for all domestic violence survivors and a list will be in the bulletin next week. These items will be collected as part of the WBC Family Christmas service on Sunday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m.
